Over the past several years, I’ve been developing an idea for a centralized hiring and resume platform built specifically for the Service Industry — something that, surprisingly, still doesn’t exist in a meaningful way. While platforms like LinkedIn transformed hiring for professional roles (and were acquired by Microsoft for $26.2B), the service sector — with over 116M workers in the U.S. — remains highly fragmented across word-of-mouth, social media, and generic job boards.
 

That’s the opportunity behind Industry-Stars — a LinkedIn-style platform built for restaurants, bars, and hospitality. The approach is intentionally local-first: launching in the Northern Charlotte market (Concord / Huntersville / Lake Norman) to build strong network density between employers and workers, then expanding into Charlotte and outward. In hiring platforms, local density drives value — proving success early in one market creates a much stronger path to scale.
 

Why this works for restaurants and bars:
The service industry experiences extremely high turnover (often 70–100% annually), creating constant hiring demand. Today, the average cost to post a job is around $200+ per listing, often producing unqualified or non-local applicants. Most operators end up relying on multiple channels just to find a few viable candidates. Industry-Stars replaces that with a simple monthly subscription, giving businesses unlimited access to a localized pool of service industry professionals — enabling faster hiring, better matches, and significantly lower cost over time.
